The Land & Planning Team within Energy Networks gain the appropriate land rights and planning consents required to install and keep installed the distribution and transmission network in order for the business to deliver its statutory obligations and Business Plans.
What you'll be doing
Responsible for the day-to-day management and development of a Transmission Land Team (including external service providers) to secure the necessary landowner permissions required for the delivery of electricity grid infrastructure projects, day to day operational and maintenance activities and customer connections.
Responsible for the management, co-ordination and provision of land services to enable the effective and timely delivery of land consents for transmission capital projects and day to day operational and maintenance activities.
Responsible for liaison and co-ordination with the engineering businesses to develop land strategies for major project delivery and to support the day-to-day operational business, coordinating with solicitors and Environmental Planning teams to develop combined land and planning consenting strategies.
Monitor team and budget performance against targets and take action to improve where appropriate. Report project progress to a variety of internal stakeholders across the wider business.
Continually develop and implementation a variety of transmission land procedures. including project strategies where the use the use of statutory powers may be required. Contribute to the development of Land & Planning IT systems and digital processes
Liaise with Distribution Land Manager, Estates Manager and Divisional Solicitor on matters of joint interest.
Undertake personnel management and development of staff ensuring the team have the relevant skills, knowledge, and capability to meet to deliver effective land strategies. Provide senior support to individual Land Officers dealing with complex land related issues and enquiries.
Ensure team is aware and complies with Company Health and Safety requirements and update them on issues as they arise. Undertake safety audits on team as directed by the business.
What you'll bring
Expert knowledge and experience of energy consenting, legislation and practice, property law, valuations, Compensation Code and agriculture practices required to understand and reduce project delivery risk.
Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including Senior colleagues, Solicitors & External industry peers to develop strategies, objectives, policies, and procedures designed to achieve the highest performance levels for a land & property portfolio.
Excellent people person / negotiation skills utilising knowledge of the above legislation and company policies and procedures with ability to effectively lead teams
Strong leadership credentials managing a team of land professionals with responsibility to develop and execute a land strategy. Strong ability to mentor, coach and develop a team of land professionals to business needs are met.
Ability to work autonomously on high profile, time of the essence projects recognising the need for support and sensitivity where required.
Commercial awareness relating to land valuations and project delivery implications.
