Job description

Welder - Hinkley Point C (Bridgwater, UK)

Position: Permanent Full-Time | GBP 28.18 per hour

As a Welder, your primary responsibility will be to ensure products are delivered in accordance with documented procedures and standards. Your main duties will include:

  1. Welding carbon and stainless steel using manual TIG, semi-automatic TIG, and semi-automatic MIG processes in all modes and directions.
  2. Working from detailed engineering drawings.
  3. Adhering to weld procedures and quality standards, and assisting with quality records and documentation.
  4. Maintaining equipment and tools for assembly, welding, and calibration.

Detailed QHSE responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring work is performed safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Familiarity with risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Attending HSE training and meetings.
  • Participating in toolbox talks and leading them when appropriate.
  • Checking tools, equipment, and materials for compliance.
  • Carrying out HSE inspections and reporting incidents or near misses.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 Welding Engineering or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a trade test, specifically a HL04 weld test on stainless steel 304L.

Technical skills required:

  • Understanding of EN ISO/ASME welding standards.
  • Experience with TIG, MIG, and MAG welding processes.
  • Time-served or apprentice-trained.
  • Experience fabricating stainless steel equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
  • Experience working in production and engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of current health and safety regulations.
