Job summary

National Gas is seeking a Project E&I Technician for our Bacton gas terminal to install, inspect, commission, operate and respond to emergencies across terminal assets. This site-based role supports safe, reliable operation and ongoing improvements of critical infrastructure within the National Transmission System.

You will manage safe systems of work, RAMS, permits, and collaborate across disciplines to maintain safety standards and regulatory compliance while contributing to energy security.

Qualifications

• Proven operational and maintenance experience in electrical, instrumentation, or control systems engineering.
• Experience inspecting equipment in hazardous areas.
• Knowledge of safe systems of work and working within safety-critical environments.
• Understanding of multi-discipline engineering concepts in oil & gas or process industries.
• Familiarity with relevant engineering standards and health & safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out installation, inspection, commissioning, operational and emergency response activities across terminal assets in your area of competence.
• Manage safe systems of work, including setting work and implementing isolations per procedures.
• Prepare RAMS, raise permits to work, and ensure safety compliance with site procedures.
• Maintain accurate operation and maintenance records for regulatory and assurance purposes.
• Support construction, testing and commissioning of new assets linked to the gas transmission network.
• Identify opportunities to upgrade equipment and support minor modifications and projects.
• Oversee contractor activities and ensure safety standards and procedures are followed.
• Work towards achieving site competencies and authorisations (e.g., SCO/91, LV4, EL96).
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to maintain safe and efficient operations.
