Job summary

Aspire People are helping a leading co-educational secondary school in Merton recruit a passionate Secondary Science Teacher to cover Key Stage 3 and 4. The role is full-time from September 2026, with a daily rate of £200–£265 depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching Science within a secondary school setting.
• Experience delivering GCSE Science and preparing pupils for public examinations.
• Comfortable supervising and delivering practical laboratory investigations.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4.
• Teach Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics in line with the national curriculum and GCSE specifications.
• Deliver and supervise practical investigations with the support of a dedicated lab technician.
• Maintain a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and procedures.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Assess, monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress.
• Contribute to STEM clubs and science enrichment activities.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and leadership teams.
