Job summary

Teaching Personnel seeks a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to provide ad-hoc supply support across secondary schools in the PO postcode area. This role offers hands-on classroom experience, the chance to build teaching skills, and the potential to pursue a career in education.

Responsibilities include supervising classes, following pre-prepared plans, assisting SEN pupils, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils.
• Familiarity with supporting SEN learners advantageous.
• Confidence in managing classrooms and adapting to different school environments.
• Patience and proactive approach; DBS check is mandatory.
• Relevant qualifications and training required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes of students aged 11–16 in the absence of regular teachers.
• Work from pre-prepared lesson plans and maintain a structured learning environment.
• Assist pupils with SEN to access lessons and participate fully in classroom activities.
• Manage behaviour in line with school policies and provide feedback to teaching staff on engagement, progress and conduct.
