Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Teacher of Religious Education for KS3–KS4 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, on a full-time fixed-term contract starting January 2027 for two terms. Salary is MPS/UPS, dependent on experience.

The successful candidate will deliver RE lessons, foster respectful discussion, and help build religious literacy, while supporting examination preparation and providing timely feedback. A thoughtful practitioner with inclusive teaching practices is required.

Qualifications

• Holds QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Secure subject knowledge in Religious Education.
• Able to facilitate sensitive discussions in an inclusive classroom.
• Differentiates activities to support a range of abilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lessons exploring religious traditions, beliefs, practices and ethical issues.
• Develop pupils’ written evaluation, reasoning and discussion skills.
• Assess learning regularly and provide clear feedback.
• Follow the department’s curriculum plans and support examination preparation where required.
