Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Religious Education (RE) to join a large, well-established secondary academy in Barnsley for a long-term supply post, starting after October half term.

You will deliver engaging RE lessons across KS3 and KS4, fostering an inclusive classroom environment and promoting respectful discussion on beliefs and ethical issues. The role involves safeguarding duties and contributing to departmental planning and wider academy activities.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification.
• Experience teaching Religious Education in a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge in RE, ethics and religious studies.
• Ability to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that motivate and challenge students.
• Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills.
• Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to inclusion, equality, diversity and safeguarding of young people.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging RE lessons in line with the national curriculum.
• Teach RE across KS3 and KS4; adapt lessons to learners’ needs.
• Develop students' understanding of religions, ethics and worldviews.
• Create an inclusive, well-managed classroom environment.
• Assess and monitor student progress with constructive feedback.
• Differentiate activities for varying abilities including DLNs.
• Maintain high behaviour standards per the academy policy.
• Build relationships with students, colleagues and parents.
