Job summary

First Military Recruitment are seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician in Towcester to perform preventive maintenance on reactors and related equipment. The role requires the ability to work independently, with overtime during shutdowns and a full UK driving licence.

The ideal candidate has mechanical maintenance experience, basic electrical knowledge, and strong English communication. Training for PAT is provided, and there is a focus on safety and teamwork across departments.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently within a team.
• Mechanical maintenance engineering experience required.
• Basic electrical knowledge across systems and safety.
• Willing to work overtime during shutdowns or major maintenance periods.
• Physically fit for handling equipment and PPE.
• Full UK driving licence essential.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on reactors and related equipment.
• Assist with exhaust filter and system maintenance, gas cylinder changes.
• Maintain physical fitness for breathing apparatus testing.
• Conduct electrical PAT testing; training provided.
• Manage chemicals, gases, and spare parts handling and disposal.
• Prepare for preventive maintenance tasks and system cleaning.
• Assist in diagnosing and repairing processing and ancillary equipment.
• Support engineers with projects and own assignments where qualified.
• Work independently following documented procedures with minimal supervision.
• Assist with logistics: relocation, cleanroom reorganization, parts shipping.
• Foster collaboration and teamwork across departments.
