Job summary

Academics is seeking experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) for temporary short and long term roles across Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and surrounding areas in Staffordshire. Roles involve 1-2-1 and small group support, with opportunities to move into permanent positions after long-term supply.

Travel to partnership primary schools is required, with an 8.30am start and on-the-day notice often possible. DBS on Update Service preferred or to be obtained (£ cost applies).

Qualifications

• A minimum Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare/Early Years/Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Previous experience of working with children in a primary school or educational setting in the UK.
• Confident communication skills and the ability to motivate in the classroom.
• Strong behaviour management skills across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Responsibilities

• Work with learners 1-2-1 or in small groups.
• Support learners to develop essential skills, build social connections, and engage actively in learning.
• Manage behaviour and engage learners with their own learning.
• Lead small group interventions and support children with a range of needs (SEND).
• Support the teacher and learners to succeed.
