Job summary

Teach Now is recruiting a confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a Barnet primary school, starting September 2026. The role covers KS1–KS2, supporting pupils, assisting class teachers, and leading learning when needed.

You should have HLTA status or strong HLTA experience in a UK primary setting, with good classroom management and a proactive, adaptable approach. Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or strong HLTA level experience in a UK primary school.
• Ability to lead groups and classes independently.
• Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
• Excellent communication and behaviour-management skills.
• Adaptable, proactive and reliable.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Lead small-group and whole-class learning using teacher-prepared plans.
• Provide effective classroom cover when required.
• Support pupils across KS1 and KS2 with their learning and development.
• Deliver targeted interventions in areas such as literacy and numeracy.
• Adapt activities for pupils with different learning needs.
• Help maintain positive behaviour and an engaging classroom environment.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
