Job summary

Meadowbrook Primary School in Bristol is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join on a fixed-term basis from October 2026 until 31 August 2027. The role is 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am–3:30pm, term-time only plus INSET days.

You will support learners with special educational needs alongside class teachers, helping to raise attainment and progress in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Meet the national HLTA standards through relevant qualifications, training and experience.
• GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
• NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants, or an equivalent qualification and relevant experience.
• Experience supporting teaching and learning within a primary school setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

Responsibilities

• Support and enhance the academic progress of learners with special educational needs and disabilities alongside class teachers.
• Contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Support planning, delivery and assessment in line with the HLTA standards.
