Job summary

Cover People are seeking English Teachers for secondary schools across Stockport with flexible supply opportunities. These roles are mainly day-to-day and short-term, with potential for longer-term placements.

You will provide high-quality English teaching, cover KS3/KS4, and adapt resources to fit school planning while maintaining a positive classroom environment. Salaries range £140–£190 per day.

Qualifications

• QTS or recognised teaching qualification.
• Recent experience teaching English at secondary level.
• Strong knowledge in English Language and Literature.
• Effective classroom and behaviour-management skills.
• Ability to deliver engaging lessons and work from existing planning.
• Flexible, reliable and professional approach.
• Genuine commitment to pupil progress.
• ECTs and experienced English Teachers are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Teach English across KS3 and KS4.
• Deliver lessons in English Language and Literature.
• Follow school planning and adapt resources where appropriate.
• Create a positive and purposeful classroom environment.
• Manage behaviour effectively and maintain clear expectations.
• Support pupils with different abilities and learning needs.
• Check understanding and provide constructive feedback.
• Encourage pupils to participate and take an active role in their learning.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and support staff.
