Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting a Cover Supervisor for a large 11-18 secondary school with a sixth form in the Midsomer Norton area. You will supervise classes during teacher absences, deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across subjects, and maintain a positive learning environment while upholding school policies.

Experience with children is desirable; you should have strong classroom presence, communication, and be confident leading groups.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Strong classroom presence and behaviour management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confident leading groups of students independently.
• Organised, adaptable, and professional approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes during teacher absences.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects.
• Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Ensure students remain engaged and focused on their work.
• Record attendance and report any concerns to relevant staff.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding lesson progress and behaviour.
