Job summary

Outwood Academy Haydock in St Helens is seeking a proactive Cover Supervisor to maintain learning continuity during teacher absences. You will supervise classes, implement pre-set work and support students across subjects, ensuring a positive classroom environment.

You will work 32.5 hours per week, term time only plus 5 days, with a salary in the £20,545–£21,783 range. Strong classroom management and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication with a wide range of audiences and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Experience in a school environment is desirable; willingness to obtain further qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences and implement pre-set work programmes.
• Manage student behaviour according to the policy to maintain a constructive environment.
• Assist with preparing the learning environment and materials; respond to student questions and collect assignments; supervise attendance.
• Support examination logistics by invigilating and reporting pupil behaviour using referral procedures.
