Job summary

PK Education is seeking confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to provide temporary classroom cover across mainstream secondary schools in the Wakefield area. This flexible role offers regular work with a minimum of three full days per week and pays £98-£108 per day.

Typical hours are 8:15am-3:30pm, term-time only, with start ASAP. You will supervise pre-planned lessons, ensure pupils understand instructions, and maintain a calm, safe learning environment without lesson planning or marking.

Qualifications

• Hold a degree, diploma or equivalent relevant qualification.
• Strong classroom and behaviour-management skills.
• Be confident working professionally within an education setting.
• Communicate clearly and effectively in both spoken and written English.
• Be able to give instructions that pupils can understand and follow.
• Be adaptable, dependable and comfortable covering a wide range of subjects.
• Have an enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
• Be available for at least three full days each week.
• Previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils is desirable, although applications are welcome from graduates or those with related experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects and year groups.
• Ensure pupils understand the work and instructions provided by the class teacher.
• Manage classroom behaviour confidently and professionally.
• Maintain a calm, safe and positive learning environment.
• Follow the school's policies and report any concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff at the end of each lesson.
• You will not be expected to plan lessons or undertake formal marking.
