Supply Desk Ltd is seeking a Cover Supervisor to work in Hemel Hempstead and surrounding Hertfordshire schools. You will supervise classes in the absence of teaching staff and ensure learners stay engaged with pre-prepared work.

This role suits graduates, aspiring teachers, teaching assistants, or sports coaches seeking experience in secondary education. Flexible full-time, part-time or supply arrangements are available with competitive daily rates.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people, ideally within education.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence in supervising groups of students.
• Good classroom and behaviour management skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused and engaged.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and communicate instructions clearly.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and expectations.
• Encourage students to complete assigned tasks and maintain positive attitudes towards learning.
• Provide guidance and support to students where appropriate.
• Create a safe, inclusive and respectful classroom environment.
• Monitor student behaviour and report any concerns to relevant school staff.
• Provide feedback to teachers regarding lesson outcomes and student engagement.
• Support students with additional learning needs where required.
• Adapt confidently to different subjects, year groups and classroom environments.
