Job summary

World Class Defence Organisation is seeking a Network Engineer on a 12-month subcontract basis in Stevenage. The role is hybrid with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote, paying £68.75 per hour, 37 hours per week, inside IR35 via umbrella.

You will join the DEx Networks team, supporting network infrastructure, security, and services across the UK estate, engaging with partners and maintaining secure, reliable network operations in a high-profile environment.

Qualifications

• Career background in information technology.
• Demonstrable crypto experience and best practice.
• Knowledge of Cisco Catalyst Centre, ISE; Cisco best practices and CVDs.
• Understanding of the OSI model.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols including HSRP/VRRP, HTTP/S, OSPF/BGP, SSL, TCP/IP.
• Experience with Windows Server/AD, Linux, RHEL and VMware/vSphere.
• Self-motivated, ambitious and able to work under pressure.
• Structured approach to document management.
• Exposure to SDA principles and deployments.
• Authentication services.
• Network cabling fundamentals.
• Monitoring with Nagios, PRTG, SolarWinds.
• CCNA / CCNP would be great.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated support at the Stevenage site and other specified locations.
• Own remediation of identified issues and risks from reports.
• Assist with initiatives as part of the DEx Networks team.
• Build relationships with partners and suppliers to optimise service levels.
• Engage with Security to develop reporting and risk analysis.
• Collaborate to ensure network service requirements meet criteria.
• Collaborate with Crypto Network Specialist on crypto management.
