Job summary

LKQ UK & Ireland is seeking a Duty Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations and lead a high-performing General Assistant team. You will ensure safety, efficiency and customer service in a busy branch. A hands-on leader with retail or warehouse experience is preferred.

You will coach staff, drive KPIs, and support recruitment and succession planning. The role involves an average 44-hour week with weekday hours and alternate Saturdays, contributing to a balanced operation across the branch.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication to build relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Experience leading a warehouse/retail operations team.
• Knowledge of recruitment processes and interview standards.
• Understanding of P&L concepts and stock in/out handling.

Responsibilities

• Oversee warehouse operations and manage General Assistant team.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation throughout the branch.
• Drive performance across key metrics and align with business goals.
• Lead, coach and develop colleagues for current and future needs.
• Conduct regular reviews to boost engagement and development.
• Collaborate with Operations Manager on succession planning.
• Support recruitment to hire the right talent at the branch.
• Deliver structured daily briefings to communicate objectives and measures.
• Work roughly 44 hours per week, Monday–Friday 8am–6pm with alternating Saturdays 8am–4pm.

Key Responsibilities

• Warehouse operations, resource and customer service within the branch, including line management responsibility for the General Assistant team
• Ensuring all areas of the warehouse always conform to Health and Safety legislation
• Working to deliver a balanced performance across key business metrics and KPI measures in line with business goals and objectives
• Ensuring the branch is fully compliant in line with the branch standards to maintain a balanced performance.
• Leading, coaching and developing teams to create the skills and capabilities needed both now and, in the future.
• Holding regular colleague reviews to strengthen colleague engagement and support development.
• Working with the Operations Manager to create a robust succession plan throughout the branch
• Ensuring branch recruitment is right the first time, attracting future talent to the organisation
• Delivering a structured daily briefing to ensure all colleagues understand key objectives and measures
• Average of 44 hours per week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am 6pm and alternate Saturdays between the hours of 8am 4pm

Skills and Experience

• Great communication skills demonstrate the ability to develop customer and colleague relationships.
• Leading a warehouse operations team with a customer first attitude.
• Knowledge of Recruitment processes.
• Knowledge and understanding of P L's, and the booking of in and out stock.
• Strong ability to highlight and resolve Health and Safety concerns.
• Ability to review, challenge and develop colleagues in order to achieve their best and help them develop.
