Role Description The Duty Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at The Range store in Gloucester. The individual in this role oversees the daily running of the store during assigned shifts, ensuring strong customer service, smooth operations, and compliance with company policies. Typical responsibilities include supervising and supporting store teams, coordinating staffing and break schedules, managing opening and closing procedures, and monitoring stock presentation and replenishment. The Duty Manager also handles customer queries and escalations, ensures health and safety standards are met, assists with cash handling and security procedures, and supports delivery processing and merchandising. This role works closely with the Store and Assistant Managers to maintain high store standards and achieve sales and performance targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or customer-facing environments, with a strong focus on delivering excellent customer service.
• Proven supervisory or team-leading experience, including the ability to motivate colleagues and coordinate shift activities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks, priorities, and store demands.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage effectively with customers, team members, and management.
• Comfort with basic IT and point-of-sale systems, as well as handling cash and following security procedures.
• Understanding of health and safety practices within a retail setting, with the ability to enforce store standards.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and bank holidays, as required by store operations.
• Previous experience in a large-format or multi-department store is advantageous; management or leadership training is a plus.
