Job summary

Stagecoach Group Limited is seeking a committed Duty Manager at our Banbury depot to lead the frontline driving team and ensure operational safety and excellent customer service.

You will oversee daily depot operations, mentor staff, and work with stakeholders to deliver reliable services while maintaining high safety standards across the operation.

Qualifications

• Management or supervisory experience in bus/transport preferred
• Knowledge of Road Traffic Act and Employment legislation
• Ability to lead and inspire teams to follow best practice
• Knowledge of employment legislation
• Excellent planning and prioritising skills
• Self-motivated with a positive approach to change

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and support frontline colleagues to an inclusive and respectful environment.
• Oversee driver performance and implement development plans to boost productivity.
• Coaching and training with the training function to ensure skills are up-to-date.
• Handle absence management, grievances and disciplinary procedures fairly and supportively.
• Foster collaboration between drivers, managers and stakeholders for a seamless customer experience.
• Manage daily depot operations and proactively address risks and challenges to service delivery.
• Liaise with local authorities, the media and other bodies to maximise opportunities and maintain positive PR.
• Promote high safety standards; ensure everyone goes home safely and standards are not compromised.

Competitive salary, 40 hours per week on a revolving shift pattern Monday to Sat, AM and PM shifts between 04:15 – 19:00.

We’re looking for a committed Duty Manager for our Banbury depot to manage the performance, well-being, and development of the frontline driving team, ensuring consistent service delivery that meets operational, safety, and customer satisfaction standards.

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the profitable and efficient day to day operation of Depot services.

What you will be doing

• Leading & Developing Teams – Manage, mentor, and support frontline colleagues, fostering and building an inclusive and respectful work environment where all team members are appreciated and recognised for themselves and what they bring to the table.
• Performance Management – Overseeing driver performance and implementing development plans to enhance individual and team productivity.
• Coaching & Training – Working with the training function to ensure all team members are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
• Employee Relations – Handling absence management, grievances, and disciplinary procedures in a fair and supportive manner.
• Collaboration & Communication – Fostering strong relationships between drivers, managers, and key stakeholders to create a seamless customer experience.
• Operational Leadership – Ensuring service reliability and efficiency by managing daily depot operations and proactively addressing challenges.
• External Stakeholder Management – Liaising with local authorities, the media and other outside bodies to maximise business opportunities and promote positive public relations.
• Safety - We never compromise on safety. You will actively promote high standards and ensure everyone goes home safely. We take collective responsibility for safety and don't walk by when standards aren't met.

What you'll bring

• Previous management or supervisory experience (within the bus/transport industry preferred, but not essential).
• Professional knowledge of Road Traffic Act and Employment legislation
