Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Dustcart Driver for a 3 Month Contract in Thamesmead. The role requires operating a refuse collection vehicle, assisting with multiple waste streams, and working an early morning AM shift.

You will join a frontline team focusing on safety, efficiency, and customer service. Ideal candidates hold a Clean UK Driving Licence with at least 12 months of Dustcart experience, a valid HGV-C licence, Driver CPC, and knowledge of waste management.

Qualifications

• Clean UK Driving Licence held for a minimum of 12 months.
• Experience driving Dustcarts or Refuse Collection Vehicles.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically capable of performing demanding tasks.
• HGV Category C Licence.
• Driver CPC Qualification.
• Previous Local Authority waste collection experience.
• Knowledge of waste management and recycling operations.
• Early morning shift pattern.
• Physically demanding work involving driving, loading support, and manual handling.
• Daily interaction with residents, businesses, and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a refuse collection vehicle (Dustcart).
• Collect household, recycling, organic, and bulky waste across the borough.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and report defects.
• Maintain health and safety standards and PPE usage.
• Interact with residents and businesses to address inquiries.
• Record daily vehicle and collection data, escalate issues.
