Job summary

Flannery Plant Hire is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to safely operate excavators across construction sites in the Dublin area. You will perform excavation, loading, grading and material-handling in line with project specifications and company procedures.

The role requires a safety-focused approach, strong machine operating skills and the ability to deliver high productivity and customer service.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating excavators on construction sites or civil projects.
• Able to operate safely and productively in busy site conditions.
• Knowledge of safe excavation practices and working around services.
• Able to complete pre-start inspections and identify basic defects.
• Able to follow site plans, risk assessments and method statements.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong health, safety and environmental awareness.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
• Relevant operator certification or training for excavator operation.
• Eligible to work in Ireland and willing to work Dublin area.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators and attachments safely on construction projects.
• Carry out excavation, trenching, grading and material-handling.
• Follow site plans and instructions from site management.
• Perform pre-start checks and basic maintenance.
• Identify and report faults or safety concerns.
• Utilize attachments correctly (buckets, breakers, grabs).
• Maintain safe working area around underground services.
• Support site teams with general construction activities.
• Follow lifting plans and site operating procedures.
• Keep records, timesheets and documentation up to date.
