Job summary

Ganymede Solutions Ltd. is seeking a Dual Skilled Technician for heavy lift equipment in Southampton. You will maintain, service and repair Liebherr cranes, focusing on electrical and mechanical systems.

Expect a 24/7 shift pattern with overtime opportunities and a strong safety culture. You will work in a busy intermodal hub with a team of engineers, adhering to strict safety and record-keeping standards to ensure equipment reliability and availability.

Qualifications

  • A relevant Level 3 engineering qualification.
  • Apprentice-trained or time-served engineering experience.
  • Practical experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Liebherr equipment is advantageous.
  • Dual skilled maintenance background across maritime/ports, rail, heavy industry considered.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, service, inspect, fault-find and repair heavy lift equipment.
  • Complete electrical and mechanical maintenance activities safely and to the required technical standard.
  • Follow engineering procedures, health and safety requirements and local safety policies.
  • Keep accurate and comprehensive maintenance, defect and repair records in line with company and legislative requirements.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requirements quickly and professionally to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards to keep the yard and terminal clean, organised and safe.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in a safety-critical, 24/7 maintenance environment.

Dual Skilled Technician – Heavy Lift Equipment

Location: Southampton

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: Circa £55kpa + Overtime + Benefits

Shifts – continental shift pattern covering days & nights

Looking for a hands-on engineering role where your electrical and mechanical skills will keep vital machinery and heavy lifting equipment maintained?

Join within an experience engineering team within a busy intermodal transportation hub, working on a variety of machinery and heavy lift equipment.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will maintain, service, fault-find and repair predominantly Liebherr lifting machinery & cranes. You will combine practical engineering expertise with disciplined safety and record-keeping standards, helping to keep machinery & equipment reliable, compliant and available for operation within this busy transportation hub.

What You Will Bring

Knowledge of Liebherr equipment would be advantageous, but applications are also welcomed from any dual skilled engineering maintenance background including, maritime & ports, rail, heavy industry, HGV, aviation, industrial machinery, the Armed Forces or other safety-critical reactive engineering environments.

Shift Pattern

The site operates around the clock, so this position requires a flexible approach to working hours across a 24/7 shift roster, including days, nights and weekends. Overtime is available on a points system to ensure fair offering and shift cover is allocated across the team to allow for optimal use of holidays – e.g. 1 week block off across every 8 week rotation in addition to your allotted holiday allowance.
