Job summary

Orion Smart Metering is seeking experienced Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineers to join our nationwide field team. You will install smart meters safely in domestic properties and deliver a professional service to customers.

You’ll work with a supportive team, adhere to safety and compliance standards, and help Orion build trusted relationships across the country. The role offers a competitive salary, holidays, and company-provided van and tools.

Qualifications

• Smart Meter Engineering qualification or diploma.
• CMA1, CCN1 and MET1 certifications.
• MOCOPA certification (or completed during induction).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Clean DBS check preferred (recent within 3 months).
• EUSR card advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Install smart meters safely and efficiently in domestic properties.
• Deliver a professional, customer-focused service.
• Ensure all work meets industry safety and compliance standards.
• Represent Orion as part of a nationwide engineering team.

Job description

At Orion Smart Metering, we’re proud to work with some of the UK’s biggest energy and metering companies.

As we continue to grow our national contracts, we’re looking for experienced Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineers to join our expanding team.

Pay &; Package Options

Salary Package

• £45,000 per annum.
• 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
• Company van, fuel card, tools &; uniform provided

Guaranteed Day Rate – Option 1

• £200 per day
• Paid via Umbrella PAYE
• Company van, fuel card, tools &; uniform provided

Guaranteed Day Rate – Option 2

• £275 per day
• Paid via Umbrella PAYE
• Engineer provides own van &; fuel
• Tools &; uniform provided

Bonus Breakdown

KPI Bonus – £150 per month

• Achieved by hitting 75% job completion in a calendar month

Attendance Bonus – £150 per month

• Awarded for full attendance with no sick days
• Pro-rated for holidays

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm (1-hour lunch)
• Minimum 4 jobs per day / 20 per week
• Optional weekend work available once weekly targets are met

Call Out

• 1 week in 4 rota
• Standby payments Monday–Sunday
• Per job rates:
• £150 per dual install
• £80 per single
• £50 per transactional job

Saturday work available (paid at day rate)
