Job summary

Cottenham Village College is seeking a skilled DT Technician to support the Design & Technology department. The role focuses on preparing resources, ensuring safety and maintaining equipment for practical lessons.

The post requires practical skills, strong health and safety knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a busy school workshop. 14 hours per week, permanent contract, with DBS safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in a practical or workshop environment.
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures in a DT setting.
• Practical skills and confidence with tools, machinery and materials.
• Good organisational skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain consumables, workshop tools, equipment and PPE in the DT department.
• Lead health and safety compliance and maintain documentation.
• Maintain safety paperwork, training records, machine servicing and safety checks.
• Carry out regular health and safety equipment checks in Technology rooms.
• Repair/replace tools and equipment as needed to support lessons.
• Construct jigs, moulds and fittings for teaching and learning.
• Provide technical support to staff during lessons and activities.
• Manage stock levels, orders and deliveries of materials and equipment.
• Assist with staff projects and technology displays.
• Support departments in promoting Design & Technology within the school.
