Are you enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible, reliable and well organised? Can you work equally well independently or as part of a team? Can you using your own initiative to solve day-to-day problems? Then consider a move to the Decontamination Services Department’s (DSD) friendly and hardworking team.

Are you passionate about patient safety and would like to work for high quality decontamination services department at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust that delivers excellent quality patient care?

Are you interested in developing your knowledge in the decontamination and sterilisation of surgical instruments field?

Decontamination Services Department (DSD) is responsible for providing sterile services to five of the hospitals that comprise the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The Department is run to the highest standards and is accredited to Medical Device European Directive 93/42/EEC, ISO 13485:2016. DSD is located in a large, state of the art, purpose built facility on the Oxford Road Site.

As a DSD Technician you’ll undertake the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilisation and distribution of medical devices (surgical instruments) for operating theatres and departments across the Oxford Road site, as well as to its outside customers. What’s more, you must be able to follow procedures in a production environment, have effective communication skills, a conscientious and methodical approach to work and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
