Job summary

Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency is seeking Driving Examiners across multiple locations, including Coventry. This public service role focuses on road safety, clear customer communication, and accurate recording of outcomes on digital tools.

Applicants must be 23+, hold a full manual UK/EU licence for 3+ years, and have no more than 3 penalty points. The package includes pension contributions and flexible working options.

Qualifications

• Aged 23 or over (3rd EU Driving Licence Directive requirement).
• Full manual UK or EU driving licence held continuously for at least 3 years.
• No more than 3 penalty points on the licence at time of application.
• Understand and can demonstrate safe driving concepts.
• Resilient and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Strong observation, recall and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly with customers and give clear instructions.
• Put nervous customers at ease.
• Keep yourself, the customer, and other members of the public safe.
• Be aware of surroundings inside and outside the car.
• Observe driving behaviours, recall key details and record outcomes on a digital tablet.
• Assess whether customers meet the standard to drive safely and responsibly.
• Deliver driving test outcomes sensitively, clearly and professionally.
