Job summary

Bucks Fire is seeking a proactive Training Officer to deliver and assess driver training across a variety of fire and rescue vehicles and locations. You will also maintain records and ensure all training reflects current best practices and legislative requirements.

In addition, you will manage training equipment, lead environmental training initiatives, and work with external partners to enhance outcomes. This role supports ongoing professional development and OFRS objectives.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and assess driver training across a range of fire and rescue vehicle and locations.
• Maintain accurate records of training activities, assessments, and participant progress.
• Update and develop training materials to reflect current best practices and legislative requirements.
• Ensure all training courses comply with National Fire Chiefs Council, Driving Vehicle Standards Agency, and relevant legislative standards.
• Manage training equipment and resources, ensuring they are fit for purpose and available as needed.
• Lead initiatives related to environmental training and sustainability within the organisation.
• Collaborate with external partners and other fire and rescue services to enhance training outcomes.
• Support quality assurance processes to monitor and improve training delivery.
• Undertake additional tasks as required to support the overall objectives of OFRS.

This is a busy and varied role with many competing demands. You will be responsible for delivering and creating training packages, working with a wide range of staff and partner organisations, and attending meetings and training to support your ongoing professional development.
