Job summary

Blythswood in Ballyclare is seeking a personable Driver / Warehouse Person to support our Operations team. You will carry out local collections and deliveries, assist in the warehouse, and help sort donated stock for reuse.

This role requires a valid driving licence, basic warehouse experience, and the ability to work safely with volunteers and customers. You will report to the Operations Supervisor and contribute to our mission of delivering relief and care.

Qualifications

  • Essential driving licence including entitlement for 3.5T van.
  • Experience in warehouse environments and stock handling.
  • Awareness of manual handling and health & safety.
  • Experience dealing with the public.
  • Forklift certificate is required.
  • Experience storing goods for resale or recycle.
  • Record vehicle mileage and driving hours; perform checks.

Responsibilities

  • Drive local collections of shoeboxes and shop deliveries as per manifest.
  • Load/unload/store and move goods between Blythswood shops.
  • Palletise materials and load trailer efficiently.
  • Assist in general warehousing, stock control, and waste management.
  • Maintain safety, housekeeping and report incidents to manager.
  • Communicate with customers and volunteers in a friendly manner.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and health & safety policies.

2. JOB PURPOSE

To carry out collections and deliveries as required. Also, to assist in the warehouse, as directed by the Operations Supervisor and to sort out stock from donations received.

5. MAIN TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Driving - local collections of shoeboxes, goods and shop deliveries as defined by daily manifest
  • Follow Gift Aid procedures
  • Loading/Unloading/Storing and moving goods between Blythswood shops as required
  • Lifting bags, boxes and sacks of donated and sorted goods
  • Identifying saleable / reusable items and waste items from goods donated
  • When not collecting or delivering, tasks to be directed by Operations Supervisor
  • Palletising materials and loading lorry trailers efficiently
  • General warehousing/stock control/waste management -minimising waste and maximising reuse and recycle at all times
  • Liaising with public in a customer focused manner
  • Carrying out vehicle checks for maintenance and record vehicle mileage and driving hours
  • Working with colleagues and volunteers who assist in the collections and deliveries and in the shops
  • Co-operation with colleagues and management in order to get the work done safely/timeously.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping within your work area
  • Reporting problems, issues, accidents or incidents to your Manager
  • Suggesting ways to improve the Health and Safety, or quality of work with which you are involved
  • Maintaining Health and Safety regulations and, by the Organisation's Health and Safety policy, ensuring that the area in which you are working is safe for yourself, for other workers and visitors to the warehouse.
  • Identify training needs to your Manager
  • Follow safeguarding best practice and report any concerns in accordance with Blythswood's safeguarding procedures.

7. PERSON SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  1. Full Driving licence (to include Category B to entitle driving of 3.5T van)
  2. General warehouse experience
  3. Manual handling and Health and Safety awareness
  4. Experience of dealing with the general public
  5. Forklift Certificate
  6. Experience of storing goods for resale or recycle
  7. Experience of recording vehicle mileage and driving hours and carrying out vehicle checks for maintenance
