The Business
Our client is a well-established industrial services business based in Washington, supplying products and materials to customers across the North East.
Due to continued business requirements, they are looking to appoint a reliable and hardworking Driver / Warehouse Operative to join their team. This is a varied position, with the majority of your time spent making deliveries, alongside warehouse and occasional FLT duties.
The Role
The role will be split approximately as follows:
- Driver - 60% of the role
- Safely and efficiently deliver industrial products and materials to customers across the North East.
- Load, secure, transport and unload goods in line with health and safety requirements.
- Plan delivery routes effectively to ensure punctual and reliable deliveries.
- Complete delivery paperwork and obtain customer signatures where required.
- Provide professional and friendly customer service when representing the business.
- Work closely with warehouse and office teams to coordinate orders and delivery schedules.
- Warehouse - 30% of the role
- Pick products accurately from pick sheets and prepare orders for dispatch.
- Check product codes, quantities and descriptions to ensure orders are correct.
- Pack and label goods securely and prepare them for delivery.
- Load and unload stock
The Person
- Previous experience in driving, warehouse, or logistics environment.
- A full, valid UK driving licence with a clean or acceptable driving record, due to insurance purposes you will need to be over the age of 25.
- Previous experience operating an FLT, with a valid licence/certificate desirable.
- Good knowledge of the North East road network.
- Experience picking and checking orders using pick sheets.
- Good attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and efficiently.
- A reliable, punctual and flexible approach to work.
- Good physical fitness, as the role involves loading, unloading and moving stock.
- A professional and customer-focused manner when making deliveries.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- The ability to work independently, manage time effectively and meet delivery and warehouse deadlines.
- A positive attitude and willingness to assist across different areas of the business.
