Position Overview:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Driver / Operative to join our Distribution Centre based in South Shields. As Warehouse Driver / Operative, you will carry out driving duties, coordinating deliveries and movement of stock between Barbour's South Shields sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• To drive Category C/C+E vehicle safely, legally and efficiently as required.
• To comply with all drivers hours and Road Transport Directive legislation.
• To load and unload vehicle and maintain safety and security of load at all times.
• To carry out all necessary checks to ensure vehicle is safe and legal and to follow appropriate procedures where non-compliance occurs .
• To act as company ambassador when carrying out your duties.
• To complete all paperwork promptly and accurately as required for collections(include any electronic devices that might be used, scanners, hand held POD etc).
• To plan and adapt routes as necessary and feedback to Shift Manager on any issues around load planning and routing.
• To operate all vehicle systems including (Tail Gates - Pneumatics or any other ancillary systems).
• To comply with all Health & Safety requirements in depot, on road and at customers' premises and to take responsibility for ensuring own fitness to drive at all times.
• Support the warehouse in picking and packing goods for delivery
• Help with marshalling Kan Ban goods in the warehouse for delivery to South Shields Factory.
• Support 'put away' / material movements in the South shields Factory.
• Ensure all collection are correct to paperwork and are audited to confirm this.
• On occasions where driving responsibilities are not needed, you will carry out the responsibilities of a Warehouse Operative

Skills and Experience:

• Must have Category C/C+E vehicle licence.
• Experienced in all aspects of driving LGVs - Driving Goods Vehicle and have a DCCPC (Drivers Professional Competency).
• Thorough knowledge of drivers hours legislation, tachograph procedures and other legal obligations. Conform to all EU driving laws.
• Demonstrable route planning and map reading ability.
• Must be in good physical health and be prepared to work flexibly as part of a team.
• NVQ Level 2 preferred.
