Job summary

U-Drive Vehicle Hire in Fareham is seeking a friendly Driver/Valeter to support our busy branch. You will drive, deliver, and collect vehicles, and perform valeting to our high standards while ensuring customers are served promptly.

This 45-hour week on a Monday to Saturday rolling rota includes weekend shifts from the Southampton branch on a rotating basis. Previous driving or fleet experience and a clean UK license are essential, with a focus on attention to detail and customer service.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving license required.
• Prior professional driving or vehicle delivery experience preferred.
• Experience in a customer-facing role is essential.

Responsibilities

• Drive, deliver, and/or collect vehicles as directed.
• Clean and valet vehicles to U-Drive standards.
• Conduct end-of-hire vehicle checks for damage.
• Complete drivers' logs and branch sign-in/out.
• Perform Pre-Rental and Post-Rental Vehicle Inspections and report faults.

About The Role

U-Drive are looking for a friendly and ‘can-do' driver/valeter who thrives in a customer-focused environment for our Fareham branch. As a Driver/Valeter at U-Drive, you’ll play a crucial role in the efficient operation of our Fareham branch, working a 45-hour week on a Monday to Saturday rolling rota. This role will require weekend shifts to be carried out form the Southampton branch, on a rotating basis. This position involves driving responsibilities alongside vehicle valeting tasks to ensure our rental vehicles are well‑maintained and customer ready. Whether delivering vehicles to branches or directly to customers, your attention to detail and commitment to customer service are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive, deliver, and/or collect vehicles as directed
• Clean and valet vehicles to U-Drive standards
• Conduct end‑of‑hire vehicle checks for damage
• Complete drivers' logs and branch sign‑in/out
• Perform Pre‑Rental and Post‑Rental Vehicle Inspections, reporting faults and damage
• Park vehicles in designated areas
• Assist customers by showcasing vehicles and explaining controls

Requirements

• Full UK driving license
• Prior professional driving or vehicle delivery experience, such as branch transfers, customer drop-offs, or rental or fleet driving
• Experience in a customer‑facing role
• Eligible to work in the UK
• Able to work a Monday‑to‑Saturday rolling rota
• Able to work weekend shifts from the Southampton branch, including rotating weekend shifts
• Vehicle valeting or cleaning experience, for example preparing rental cars to branch standards, is a plus
• Experience with vehicle inspections and damage reporting, such as end‑of‑hire checks, noting faults, or completing condition reports, is a bonus
• Confidence driving vehicle types beyond standard cars, such as vans, light commercial vehicles, or specialist rental vehicles, would be advantageous
