Job summary

InPost seeks skilled Driver Loaders to join the Carlisle depot, blending warehouse duties with driving on a 4 on/4 off rotation. You will scan, sort and load parcels, then deliver door-to-door and to InPost Lockers.

You must hold a full UK driving licence, have good English, and be flexible, customer-focused with a safety-first mindset. Training and PPE are provided to support you in this varied role.

Job description

InPost are seeking skilled and motivated Driver Loaders to become an integral part of our dynamic depot and delivery team at our Carlisle depot This is a dual-skilled role combining warehouse operations and driving responsibilities within a single shift.

Working as part of InPost's mission to be the customer's ideal delivery partner, you’ll play a key role in supporting our depot sort operation before heading out on the road to deliver a first-class door-to-door and InPost Locker experience for our customers.

Location: Unit D Kings Drive, Kingmoor Park South, Carlisle, CA6 4RD

Shift Pattern: 4 days on / 4 days off

Hours: 03:00 – 13:30

Salary: £14.22 per hour

Shift includes a 30-minute unpaid break.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your day will be split between warehouse and driving duties, giving you the opportunity to take on a varied and hands-on role.

Warehouse Duties – 03:00 to 08:00

• Assist with scanning and sorting parcels received into the depot, following InPost policies and procedures.
• Use a Handheld Terminal (HHT) to accurately scan and process parcels.
• Help unload inbound vehicles and prepare outbound loads for the day's delivery routes.
• Load your delivery vehicle safely, efficiently and in the correct sequence for your route.
• Spot-check sorted parcels and cages to ensure everything is accurate before load out.
• Keep your work area clean, tidy and organised.
• Complete daily vehicle checks before starting the driving portion of your shift.

Driving Duties – 08:00 to 13:30

• Collect parcels from stores according to your designated collection schedule.
• Deliver parcels door-to-door to customers within allocated routes and time windows.
• Deliver to and collect parcels from InPost Lockers along your route.
• Accurately record every delivery, collection and locker transaction using the HHT for live tracking and traceability.
• Provide a professional and positive customer experience while representing the InPost brand.
• Maintain the security of your vehicle, InPost Lockers, parcels and their contents at all times.
• Return to the depot at the end of your route and complete the required debrief process.

Across Both Phases Of Your Shift

• Ensure your ID and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are clean, functional and worn as required.
• Follow all relevant Working Time Directive and legal requirements.
• Adhere to InPost's High Value parcel management processes.
• Complete all briefing and debriefing procedures and follow the relevant control measures.
• Maintain regular communication with the depot and elevate any issues to your Team Manager.
• Report any suspected fraud encountered during collections or deliveries.
• Follow all InPost policies and legal requirements relating to customer property, company property, vehicles, security, fire, Health & Safety and dangerous goods.
• Support the training and induction of new colleagues where required.
• Attend relevant training courses, such as Fire Marshal, Spill Kit and Dangerous Goods by Road training, where required.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by your Team Manager or Service Centre Manager.

What We Need From You

• A full, valid UK/EU driving licence is essential.
• No more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence
• The right to work in the UK.
• Good written and verbal English skills, with the ability to complete basic paperwork and use track-and-trace systems.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative across both warehouse and driving duties.
• Ability to read maps and plan routes effectively.
• A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
• Confidence working in a fast-paced environment.
• A customer-first mindset and professional approach when representing the InPost brand.
• Ability to work safely and responsibly while handling parcels, vehicles and company equipment.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

• Previous warehouse, logistics or sort centre experience.
• Previous experience working directly with customers.
• A forklift licence.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work regulations.
• Good local geographical knowledge.
• Experience using handheld or smart technology.
• Previous driving experience within a logistics or delivery environment.
