Job summary

Nuffield Health is seeking a Bank Driver for its Hospital Sterile Services Unit in Papworth Everard. The role is part-time, with shifts including early mornings and Saturdays, and pay of £13.10 per hour.

You will transport surgical instruments across local hospital networks and support patient safety in NHS/private settings. Based in the Sterile Services Unit, you will ensure accuracy in deliveries, maintain records, and act as an ambassador for the unit while enjoying a benefits package

Qualifications

• Hold a full driving licence, including C1 entitlement for 7.5 tonne GVW.
• Basic knowledge of driver hour legislation and tachograph card preferred.
• Comfortable with manual handling including moving trolleys weighing up to 250 kg.
• Good literacy and numeracy; basic computer literacy.
• Sterile services training is an advantage but full training will be provided.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Drive 7.5T vehicles across the South and East of England to deliver medical instrumentation.
• Act as ambassador and first point of contact for customers.
• Maintain tachograph records accurately.
• Receive and check delivery of medical devices from customers.
• Keep quality records up to date.
• Manage time in accordance with Driver Regulations.

Our Hospital Sterile Services Unit (HSSU) transports sterile and disinfected surgical equipment to our local hospital network. We are seeking a Bank Driver to join our Hospital Sterile Services Unit Team in Papworth Everard, CB23 3GY, to work on an adhoc basis. Based in our state of the art Sterile Services Unit, your work will be varied, stimulating and will involve the Delivery of Surgical Instruments to our Nuffield Hospitals and Third Party customers. By joining us you'll be making a significant contribution to Patient Safety in both Private and NHS Hospitals.

• Driving our 7.5T vehicles across the South and East of England to collect and deliver medical instrumentation.

• Act as an ambassador for the unit being the first point of contact for customers.

• Ensure all tachograph records are maintained correctly.

• To receive and check delivery of medical devices from the customer.

• Good Record keeping following all Quality records in place.

• Managing own time according to Driver Regulations.

What do you need?

• Hold a full driving licence, including a C1 entitlement, which allows you to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).

• Have basic knowledge of current driver hour legislation and preferably hold a Driver digital tachograph card.

• Be comfortable with manual handling - movement of transport trolleys weighing upwards of 250kg.

• A basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy.

• Evidence of previous sterile services training is an advantage but not essential – full training will be provided.

• Good communication skills, verbal and written, and basic computer literacy.

• Attention to detail and an overarching desire to deliver a high quality service.

Shift information

The role will involve working early morning/evenings and Saturdays, so applicants need to be flexible with regards to working hours.
Shifts operate between the hours of 02:00 - 21:00 Monday to Friday with varying shift times on Saturdays according to the requirements of the hospitals.

As a Bank Worker, you'll be called on to provide cover during periods of sickness, holidays or increased workload. We'll give you a uniform and personal protective equipment. You won't be classified as an employee, so there'll be no fixed working pattern, or entitlement to guaranteed or continuous employment.
