Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a permanent part-time driver for the UEL Transport team, based at Southampton General Hospital in partnership with UHS Estates Limited. The role involves moving staff, post, samples, pharmacy items and supplies between hospitals and clinics, with shifts from 0600 to 2030 and a mix of minibuses and 7.5 tonne vehicles.

Applicants must hold a full UK licence with no more than 3 points and D1 entitlement for minibuses.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with no more than 3 points.
• D1 entitlement to drive a 17-seat minibus.
• Experience driving up to 7.5 tonnes.
• Knowledge of the Southampton area is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Move UHS and UEL supplies safely and within compliance rules.
• Transport staff to and from their place of work.
• Deliver mail and parcels to hospitals and clinics.
• Transport bloods, pharmacy items, linen and equipment.
• Carry out tasks per the schedule or as directed by the Head Driver.
• Complete daily vehicle checks using driver instruction sheets.
• Report vehicle defects to the Transport Supervisor.
• Drive at all times within the Road Traffic Act.

Job description
