Job summary

Newport City Council is seeking a Driver/General Operative for the Waste & Cleansing team at Newport. You will drive council vehicles as needed, perform street cleansing duties and complete daily routes, collecting litter and keeping public spaces clean in all weather.

The role requires a full UK driving licence, physical fitness for outdoor work, and strong teamwork and reliability to work in a team and on your own initiative.

Driver/General Operative - Waste & Cleansing

Location: Telford Street Depot, Newport, NP19 0ES
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 1:54pm
Contract: Temporary (12 weeks)

We're recruiting on behalf of Newport City Council for reliable and hardworking Driver/General Operatives to join the Waste & Cleansing team.

In this role, you'll be responsible for carrying out street cleansing duties and driving council vehicles when required. You'll help keep Newport's streets and public spaces clean by completing daily routes, collecting litter, emptying bins, and working safely in all weather conditions.
