Job summary

Breedon Group is seeking a motivated HGV Driver to join our Buxton team. You will deliver ready mix concrete, perform vehicle checks, and plan efficient routes while upholding safety and quality standards.

Full training will be provided, with opportunities for development within a large construction materials group. The role requires flexibility for occasional nights and weekends and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Valid Category C or C+E licence with Driver CPC qualification.
• Experience as an LGV driver is preferred.
• Good knowledge of local road networks and route planning.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate LGV (Class 1 or 2) vehicles in line with UK road laws and company policies.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report faults.
• Load/unload goods using appropriate handling techniques.
• Deliver ready mix concrete to customers.
• Maintain communication with Distribution about delays or route changes.
• Ensure load security and complete delivery logs accurately.
• Provide excellent customer service and represent Breedon professionally.
• Comply with health, safety and environmental standards.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic HGV Driver to join our team at Buxton. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for driving and a keen interest in learning more about the construction materials industry. You will be responsible for ensuring our products are delivered efficiently, in accordance with the law and the best interests of the company and our customers. You will place the highest importance on our sustained standards of excellence in all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental Management. Full training on our products and processes will be provided, ensuring you're well-prepared to meet our high standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate LGV (Class 1 or 2) vehicles in accordance with UK road laws and company policies
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report any faults or issues
• Load and unload goods using appropriate manual handling techniques or equipment
• Deliver ready mix concrete.
• Maintain communication with the Distribution Department regarding delays, issues, or route changes
• Ensure security of the load during transit
• Complete delivery logs, timesheets, and any required digital entries accurately
• Provide excellent customer service and represent the company in a professional manner
• Ensure all deliveries comply with legal requirements, prioritising the health, safety, and environmental standards of Breedon
• Contribute to the team by maintaining a flexible approach to working hours, including occasional nights and weekends.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• A valid Category C or C+E licence and a current Driver CPC qualification
• Proven experience as an LGV driver preferred
• Good knowledge of local road networks and route planning
• Excellent time management and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• A hard-working and positive attitude, with a willingness to learn
• Flexibility to work variable hours, with the availability for occasional nights and weekends
