Job summary

Rendesco in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Lead Rotary Driller to oversee a Comacchio rotary drilling rig and associated equipment for geothermal boreholes. The role demands leadership of a drilling crew and the ability to safely and efficiently drill to depths exceeding 200m on land-based sites.

The ideal candidate will have extensive land drilling experience, be highly organised, and willing to travel with long shifts and company-provided accommodation.

Qualifications

• Significant land drilling experience with rotary and geothermal operations.
• Organised with good planning skills and the ability to work autonomously in a team.
• Willingness to travel and stay away from home in company-provided accommodation.
• Pass drug and alcohol screening; able to pass safety medical and DBS checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate drilling rigs (Comacchio GEO602, 900 and 909GT) to drill geothermal boreholes >200m.
• Manage mud cleaning and site mud programs to enable clean closed-loop drilling.
• Install closed-loop heat collectors in vertical and inclined boreholes; grout and finish per design spec.
• Interpret drilling plans and geological data to optimise loop placement and BH depth.
• Maintain daily drilling records (depth, drilling conditions, equipment use).
• Complete QA/QC testing on installed loops and keep good records.
• Ensure drilling activities comply with environmental, health and safety regulations.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic field repairs.

• Ensuredrillingactivitiescomplywithenvironmental,health,andsafetyregulations.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance; troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform basic field repairs.
