Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Drama Teacher for a busy performing arts‑focused secondary academy in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. The role is full‑time maternity cover, with an ASAP start, teaching Drama across KS3–KS5 and delivering both practical workshops and theory to develop pupils’ confidence and performance skills.

The successful candidate will hold QTS or an equivalent qualification and will manage practical lessons safely, contributing to rehearsals and extracurricular activities.

Qualifications

• Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong background in Drama and performance.
• Can manage practical lessons safely and effectively.
• Encourages creativity while maintaining clear expectations for behaviour and progress.

Responsibilities

• Teach Drama across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 teaching where appropriate.
• Deliver practical workshops in performance, improvisation and character development.
• Teach theatre terminology, performance analysis and evaluation.
• Prepare pupils for practical assessments and written examination components.
• Support rehearsals, showcases and extracurricular performance activities.
