Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd is seeking a Drama/Performing Arts Technician for a busy secondary school in Wandsworth, SW London. You will support lessons, rehearsals, exams, and events, ensuring lighting, sound, and scenery are ready and safe for use.

The role requires past theatre/PA experience, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and with a team, including students. DBS Enhanced Update Service is advantageous, with a full-time, long-term contract.

Qualifications

  • Experience in theatre, drama or live events.
  • Knowledge of lighting, sound, staging, props and AV equipment.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage equipment and competing priorities.
  • Proactive problem-solving and creative approach.
  • Confident working independently and with a team.
  • Good communication with secondary students.
  • Understanding of health and safety in performance environments.
  • DBS Enhanced Update Service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and practical support for Drama and Performing Arts lessons.
  • Prepare performance spaces, studios, stages, props, costumes, and equipment.
  • Operate and support lighting, sound, projection, and other technical theatre equipment.
  • Assist with rehearsals, examinations, school productions, performances, and events.
  • Support students with safe and appropriate use of equipment.
  • Help design, construct, source, and maintain scenery, sets, props, and displays.
  • Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of departmental equipment.
  • Manage and organise departmental resources, stock, costumes, and technical supplies.
  • Ensure spaces are safe, organised, and ready for use.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
  • Work with teaching staff, students, site teams, and external professionals.
  • Provide occasional support outside normal school hours for performances.
