Job summary

Lanes Group is recruiting for Van Pack Drainage Engineers to support a major contract in Southampton. The role involves working in two-person teams, travelling to residential sites in a van to provide high-pressure jetting for drainage restoration, with full training provided.

Location is Millbrook Depot, Southampton, permanent full-time with a 45-hour week and a salary of £35,000 OTE. The company offers health plans, pension, and generous holidays, with a focus on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence is required.
  • Experience with High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential.
  • Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to residential sites in a van to operate a high-pressure water jet for restoration.
  • Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
  • Record each job report on the specialist equipment.
  • Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
  • Deliver excellent customer service.
  • Maintain health and safety practices on site.
  • Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
  • Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
  • Work unsupervised in all weather with PPE and lone worker system.
  • Conduct site risk assessments and liaise with clients on progress.

We operate 24/7 and as such you are required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on‑call rota. Full training / PPE / use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.

Position: Van Pack Drainage Engineer

Location: Millbrook Depot (Southampton), once competent you will work from door to door.

Job Type: Permanent, full‑time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week

Salary: OTE £35,000 (made up of basic pay and overtime)

About The Role
  • Travelling to residential sites in a van you are responsible for, around the region powering a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
  • Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
  • Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
  • Run diagnostics and repairs on drains
  • Delivering good customer service.
  • Maintaining good H&S practise while carrying out works.
  • Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
  • To comply with health and safety responsibilities i.e. PPE / safe site set ups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users.
  • To be able to utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in all weather conditions utilising correct PPE, lone worker system, etc.
  • Dynamically risk assess site access & working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
  • Liaising with the client regarding progress and any updates.
  • Provide support to your colleagues.
  • To conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before/after use.
  • Report any defects or malfunctions in regards to training.
  • Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them.
  • Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by management.

About You
