Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Drainage Engineer to join a Drainage and Coastal Defence team in Grimsby. The role focuses on flood risk management for surface water, land drainage, groundwater, and coastal factors, and is offered on a contract basis to deliver impactful engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities include planning and delivering schemes, leading flood risk assessments, and producing technical reports while collaborating with stakeholders to protect communities from flood risks.

Qualifications

• Experience in flood risk management and drainage engineering.
• Proficiency in preparing detailed engineering schemes and technical reports.
• Strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and team members.
• Ability to lead investigations into flooding events and develop mitigation measures.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, coordinate, and deliver schemes within the capital programme.
• Assist in duties as Lead Local Flood Authority, managing flood risk.
• Investigate flooding events and prepare Section 19 reports as required by law.
• Lead in responding to flooding or oil pollution incidents, including adverse weather and irregular hours.
• Provide professional engineering expertise to drainage and coastal defence initiatives.

Our client, is currently seeking a Drainage Engineer to join their Drainage and Coastal Defence team in Grimsby. This team plays a crucial role in managing flood risk, with a strong focus on preventing flooding to properties and public highways caused by surface water, land drainage systems, groundwater, and coastal factors. This position is offered on a contract basis, providing an opportunity to make a significant impact through engineering expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, design, coordinate, and deliver engineering schemes within the Drainage and Coastal Defence team's capital programme
• Assist in the delivery of duties as a Lead Local Flood Authority, managing flood risk from surface water, land drainage systems, and groundwater
• Investigate flooding events where internal flooding of property occurs and prepare Section 19 reports as required by the Flood and Water Management Act
• Lead in responding to flooding or oil pollution incidents, including working in challenging weather conditions and outside typical working hours
• Provide professional engineering expertise to the drainage and coastal defence initiatives

Job Requirements:

• Experience in flood risk management and drainage engineering
