Job summary

Lanes Group is seeking a Drainage Engineer in Aylesbury to join our Thames Water contract. You will travel in two-person teams, operate high‑pressure jetting equipment, and deliver effective drainage solutions with a strong focus on safety and customer service.

We operate 24/7 and you will work on a 4 days on/4 days off, 40.25 hours per week. Full training, PPE, and company equipment are provided. Benefits include a health cash plan, free onsite parking, and pension enrollment.

Qualifications

• Experience with High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential.
• NRSWA and Confined Spaces qualifications are an advantage.
• Hardworking and respectful, with adherence to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Travelling to residential sites in a two-person team to operate a high-pressure water jet.
• Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
• Record each job report on the specialist equipment.
• Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
• Deliver excellent customer service.
• Maintain health and safety practices on site.
• Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
• Comply with PPE and lone worker systems.
• Liaise with the client regarding progress and updates.
• Conduct risk assessments and manage site access safely.

Job Type: permanent, full-time

Hours: 4 days on 4 days off, 40.25 hours

Salary: OTE £34,000 per annum (made up of basic pay, overtime, on call allowance and bonuses)

About the Role:

Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems.

• Travelling to residential sites via HGV in a two person team, around the region powering a high-pressure water jet for restoration.
• Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
• Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
• Run diagnostics and repairs on drains
• Delivering good customer service.
• Maintaining good H&S practise while carrying out works.
• Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
• To comply with health and safety responsibilities i.e. PPE / safe site set ups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users.
• To be able to utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
• Liaising with the client regarding progress and any updates.
• Ability to work unsupervised in all weather conditions utilising correct PPE, lone worker system, etc
• Dynamically risk assess site access & working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival
• Provide support to your colleagues.
• To conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before/after use.
• Report any defects or malfunctions in regards to training.
• Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception.
• Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them
• Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by management

The ideal candidate will be hard working and respectful and comply with health and safety standards. Experience in the use of High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage.
