Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Drainage Design Engineer on a contract basis to lead drainage schemes, deliver site reports and 3D models, and mentor junior staff. The role requires flexibility for hybrid working with two days in Winchester and three days remote, starting 7th September 2026.

The ideal candidate will have strong drainage/flood risk experience, proficiency in Causeway Flow/InfoDrainage/AutoCAD, and good communication to collaborate with clients and teams.

• Strong technical and analytical skills.
• Ability to produce detailed civil engineering designs and calculations.
• Understanding of civil 3D modelling.

Our client, is currently seeking a Drainage Design Engineer to join their team on a contractual basis. This role, focusing on drainage and floodwater management, is critical to the successful delivery of various drainage schemes for a diverse range of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and delivering a variety of drainage schemes
• Producing site reports, civil engineering designs, calculations, and civil 3D models
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
• Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of design information
• Collaborating with internal teams and clients to deliver project requirements

Job Requirements:

• Experience in drainage and flood risk management
• Competence in using software such as Causeway Flow, InfoDrainage, and AutoCAD
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Ability to produce detailed civil engineering designs and calculations
• Understanding of civil 3D modelling
• Valid driving licence (Category B) and flexibility for hybrid working
• Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities

Additional Information:

• Typical hours: 37 hours per week
• Hybrid role: 2 days in Winchester offices, 3 days remote
• Start date: 7th September 2026
• DBS check not required
