Job summary

Lanes Group is seeking an enthusiastic Drainage Assistant to join our team in Bristol. This role involves working alongside experienced engineers, conducting surveys of drainage systems, and learning to assess conditions and identify defects.

The position is permanent and full-time, Monday to Friday, at £13.00 per hour. Benefits include enhanced overtime rates, 21 days holiday, life assurance scheme, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points).
• Strong interest in drainage, utilities, or civil engineering.
• Practical, hands‑on approach and willingness to work outdoors.

Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Drainage Assistant to join our team working out of our SevenOaks Depot. You will work alongside experienced engineers to carry out surveys of drainage systems, learning how to assess conditions, identify defects, and support maintenance and repair strategies. This is a permanent, full‑time role, Monday to Friday 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns.
• Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, structural defects, infiltration, and root ingress.
• Operate high‑pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear drains, sewers, and pipework.
• Remove waste materials and prevent build‑up in wastewater systems.
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness.
• Support CCTV inspections to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
• Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues.
• Learn to complete job sheets, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) under supervision.
