Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is recruiting two full-time fixed-term Donor Carer positions. You will support donors, learning clinical skills and ensuring a safe blood supply across the UK. Roles involve varied hours, including evenings and weekends, with no night shifts, and 4 days per week/8 days per fortnight.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate numeracy and literacy skills.
• Willing to undertake development and training, including Skills for Healthcare Certificate.
• Adaptability to a busy NHS environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide a caring, professional experience and support donors throughout donation.
• Learn clinical skills including donor screening, haemoglobin testing, and blood collection under supervision.
• Monitor donor wellbeing and provide care before, during, and after donation.
• Record donor and donation data accurately in electronic and manual systems.
• Encourage donors to return and continue donating to help save lives.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient donor sessions.
• Embrace learning and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.
