Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a Blood Donation Team Assistant to support donors and sessions across multiple locations. You will care for donors after donation, help with refreshments, and keep accurate records, while contributing to safe and efficient session operations.

The role is bank-based with variable hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, and may involve travel up to two hours to different session sites. Full training and ongoing support are provided.

  • Make a meaningful contribution to the donor experience by providing excellent care and customer service in the post donation recovery area.
  • Support donors throughout their visit by preparing and distributing refreshments and maintaining close observation following donation.
  • The role will require you to be available on a bank to work variable hours and days, including evening shifts, weekends and bank holidays with appropriate notice.
  • Blood collection takes place in a variety of locations, requiring you to undertake journeys in our vehicles or in your own vehicle for up to 2 hours.
  • You will be required to load, unload, assemble and dismantle equipment on a daily basis including heavy objects of up to 13 kgs.
  • Help create a safe environment for donors, colleagues and visitors by maintaining high standards of health, safety and infection control.

Youll help care for donors after they have donated, prepare refreshments, make appointments and maintain accurate records, while helping to ensure sessions run safely and efficiently.
