Job description

A Domiciliary Care Assistant provides essential home care support to elderly, disabled, or vulnerable individuals, helping them maintain their independence in their own homes. This role involves assisting with personal care, household tasks, meal preparation, and companionship while ensuring the well-being and dignity of clients.

Key ResponsibilitiesSkills & Qualifications:

  • Personal Care & Support
  • Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting while maintaining dignity and respect.
  • Provide mobility support, including helping clients move safely around their home.
  • Assist with medication reminders and basic healthcare monitoring.
  • Meal Preparation & Household Tasks
  • Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing.
  • Ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for clients.
  • Companionship & Emotional Support
  • Offer emotional support and friendly companionship to reduce loneliness.
  • Engage clients in social activities and meaningful conversations.
  • Encourage participation in hobbies and light exercises when appropriate.
  • Monitoring & Reporting
  • Observe and report any changes in clients' health, mood, or behavior to healthcare professionals or family members.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and any incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and care standards.
  • Transport & Community Engagement (if applicable)
  • Assist with shopping, attending medical appointments, and social outings.
  • Support clients in staying connected with their community and maintaining an active lifestyle.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (preferred but not essential)
  • Valid DBS check
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and health & safety regulations
  • Empathetic, patient, and compassionate approach to care
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Full UK Driving License (preferred, if required for travel between clients)

Working Hours & Salary

  • Flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight care.
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience and location.
