Job summary

St Edward's School is seeking a reliable Domestic Assistant to join our caring staff. You will help maintain cleanliness across classrooms, offices, kitchens and communal areas, supporting pupils and colleagues with a professional and respectful approach.

Contract is permanent, term time plus two weeks over holidays (28 hours/week). Shifts are 12:00–18:00 (Mon–Thu) and 12:00–16:00 on Friday; salary up to £17,339.14, depending on experience.

• Experience cleaning or domestic duties in school, care, hospitality or similar.

Domestic Assistant Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the school/relevant hub, including classrooms, offices, corridors, communal areas, toilets, welfare facilities, school kitchen and catering facilities.
• Support lunchtime service by clearing tables, collecting trays, crockery and cutlery, washing up and ensuring dining areas remain clean, tidy and hygienic.

Requirements

• Has experience of carrying out cleaning, housekeeping or domestic duties in a school, care, hospitality, commercial or similar environment.
• Understands the importance of cleanliness, hygiene, and safe working practices.
• Has experience of maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation.
• Works effectively as part of a team and follows established procedures.
• Is reliable, punctual and able to manage physically active tasks.
• Demonstrates a professional and respectful approach when working with pupils, staff and visitors.
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Contract & Working Hours

Contract: Permanent, term time plus 2 weeks over school holidays (28 hours per week)

Working hours: 12:00 to 18:00, Monday to Thursday and 12:00 to 16:00 Friday

Salary Range: Up to £17,339.14 (actual salary), dependent on experience

Start Date: Negotiable subject to notice/availability
