Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is partnering with a local authority to recruit a dedicated Domestic Abuse and Safeguarding Support Worker in Maidstone. The role provides compassionate, person-centred support to vulnerable individuals and families, helping them sustain tenancies, stay safe and access appropriate services.

You will manage a caseload, develop needs and safety plans, assess risks and work closely with Police, Victim Support, Housing and safeguarding teams to coordinate multi-agency

Qualifications

• Experience working with vulnerable individuals or families.
• Experience of casework, support planning and needs assessments.
• Understanding of domestic abuse, stalking and safeguarding.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to identify complex needs and risks, including issues such as substance misuse, mental health, offending and anti-social behaviour.
• Ability to work independently and follow lone-working and safeguarding procedures.
• Good written and electronic record-keeping skills.
• Full driving licence and access to own transport for out-of-hours work is required.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and an out-of-hours rota.
• Commitment to equality, safeguarding, health and safety and Council policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of vulnerable clients in supported or temporary accommodation.
• Complete needs assessments, support plans and staying safe plans.
• Meet clients face-to-face and provide practical and emotional support.
• Identify risks and make appropriate referrals to specialist services.
• Work with Police, Victim Support, Housing, Safeguarding and other agencies.
• Support clients with housing, employment, education and safety.
• Help prevent homelessness and support tenancy sustainment.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case records.
• Respond to urgent or high-risk situations and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and an out-of-hours rota when required.
